* This document does not acknowledge the human right to all sexual orientations consequently it does not uphold full social protection for gays, lesbians and bisexuals. Article 16 defines heterosexist notions of family excluding the various forms of families that exist in our world.
* Article 25 speaks to the special assistance necessary for mothers and their children to enjoy full equality and protection in society. It does not explain that this assistance must be economic, such as maternity leave and day care, in order to allow mothers their rightful freedom. In addition, this article does not challenge the underlying assumption that mothers are more responsible for child care than fathers, consequently perpetuating sexual inequality in society. On December 10, 1948, the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted this declaration as the standard for people around the world. However, not all countries respect this document. It is important that these standards and rights be known and shared with everyone, everywhere, all over the world.
